UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (21-2-2, 4-0) remained unbeaten in District 9-AA play and swept the season series against Chapel Hill (11-8, 3-2) on Thursday night, 3-2, to secure the number one seed in the upcoming District 9-AA Tournament.

UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (21-2-2, 4-0) remained unbeaten in District 9-AA play and swept the season series against Chapel Hill (11-8, 3-2) on Thursday night, 3-2, to secure the number one seed in the upcoming District 9-AA Tournament.
Taylar Wessner was exceptional in the circle, throwing a complete game and giving up two earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six batters on 98 pitches.
For Chapel Hill, Taylor Moreland threw 6.0 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters on 89 pitches.
Community jumped on Moreland immediately in the bottom of the fourth after Anna Haskins and Mattie Maxey led off with a pair of singles. Haylee Webb then drove both runners home to give the Viqueens an early 2-0 lead before the Lady Rockets had even recorded one out.
Neither team scored until the fourth inning when Chapel Hill cut the lead in half by plating one run, but the Viqueens responded with a Carlie Blanton solo home run to double their lead once again, 3-1.
Chapel Hill plated one more run in the top of the sixth, but Wessner was able to limit the damage to keep the Lady Rockets at bay by shutting out the visitors the rest of the way to secure the close win.
Anna Haskins and Mattie Maxey both finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored for Community. Haylee Webb went 1-3 with the two RBIs, Alana Tate went 1-3, and Carlie Blanton finished 1-2 with a home run and a walk.
Chapel Hill’s Taylor Moreland went 2-3 at the plate with a solo home run, and Haddie Van Patten finished 1-3 with a double. Ella Chilton finished 1-3 with an RBI as well.
Community hosts Cascade on Tuesday with first-pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
