UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (1-1) ran away from Santa Fe (0-2) in their home opener on Friday night, 82-40, behind a season-high 14 three-pointers as a team.
Brooklyn Yoes led the Viqueens with 17 points, Savannah Pearson scored 14 points, and 12 different players scored at least a bucket for Community.
Santa Fe’s Norakate Butt led all scorers with 18 points and connected on five triples while Addison Prince added 13 points for the Lady Wildcats.
Community raced out to a 27-13 lead at the end of the opening period, powered by Yoes and Pearson combining for 19 points and connecting on five three-pointers between them. In the second quarter, the Viqueens’ extended their lead, outscoring Santa Fe, 20-7, to take a commanding 47-20 lead into the halftime locker room.
In the third quarter, the Viqueens’ got scorching hot from behind the arc as five different players knocked in a combined six three-pointers to balloon the lead to 69-35 heading into the final frame.
Santa Fe was held to just five points in the fourth quarter as Community scored 13 points to reach the final 42-point margin of victory.
Santa Fe falls to 0-2.
