Dorothy Jane Baker Hathaway, 86, of Shelbyville, died July 2, 2026. She was born December 19, 1939, in Shelbyville, to her parents the late B.W. Baker and Gertrude Swain Baker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Hathaway and a brother, Willard Baker.
She retired from Empire Berol Company and worked later for the Bedford County Zoning Office. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and in later years, served in the People's Church. She was caretaker for her mother for quite a few years.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, stepmother, wife, and a believer who was loved by all her children and grandchildren for her humor, passion and style.
She is survived by her children, Anthony W. (Matilda) Harris, Lisa Dawn White and Timothy Scott Harris; brother, David (Dawn) Baker, all of Shelbyville; 6 grandchildren, Shan (Julie)
Harris, Fallon (Matt) Pagello, Robert Anthony Harris, Olivia Harris, Meredith White, Kally Harris; 6 great grandchildren, Abby Harrris, Riley Harris, Dalyce Bird, Landry Pagello, Allie Harris, Jaylon Ewing and one great-great-grandchild, Jericho Fritchley; step-children, Shelba (Darin) Philpott of Manchester, Robin Shawn (Christopher) Hix of Gordonsville, Richard Shelton Hathaway of Manchester, 6 step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 6th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Drew Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M.
