Eaglettes Multi-Sport Star Lilly Brown Signs With Motlow For Softball

Posted

Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes’ basketball and softball star Lilly Brown officially signed with Motlow State Community College right outside Rick Insell Gymnasium on Monday to continue her softball career, surrounded by her family, coaches, and teammates, including  third-year softball Head Coach, Shaun Whitaker.

“I’m really excited to go to Motlow and play with my teammates again,” she told the Times-Gazette. “We have been playing with each other since we were five, six years old.”

Brown, a senior, has been instrumental in helping head coach Shaun Whitaker help build this program from the bottom up, and her hard work and perseverance has ended up with an opportunity to play softball at the next level.

“I’m just ready to play wherever they need me to go,” Brown said as an ear-to-ear smile spread across her face.

Brown, who triples as Shelbyville’s cleanup hitter, starting center fielder, and even part-time catcher, is tied for the team-high in hitting at .400 through the first six games of her senior season while leading the team with a .900 OPS. She has only struck out twice in her 20 plate appearances, and has tallied five RBI with eight runs scored.
