John Isaac Widener Sr., 51, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully November 21, 2025, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
Born February 11, 1974, Johnny was the son of the late Myrtle Ellene Garner and James Franklin Widener Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roy Garner and great-nephew, Thomas Franklin Young IV.
Johnny enjoyed many things, from watching wrestling and Bob Ross, to listening to Ozzy Osbourne. He also had a passion for cooking and was one of the best around. Johnny was known for his sense of humor, always loving to laugh and make others do the same. Most importantly, he loved his wife and children more than anything in this world.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of more than 25 years, Michelle; children, Lindsey 'Leo' Widener and John 'JJ' Isaac Widener Jr.; brothers, Ronald Widener and Donald Widener; sisters, Angie Widener Crank, Karen Widener Barbara Widener Curtis and Julie Widener Rosado; several other very loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will be privately celebrating the life of Johnny at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Shelbyville Recreation Center.
