Mary Ann King, age 72, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at her residence.
Mary Ann was born August 26, 1953, in Manchester, TN, to the late F.M. Hill and Maggie Brinkley Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Frances Pack, Leona Hines, and Shirley Redfern; brothers: Daryl Hill and Austin Hill. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years; Ronnie “Kingfish” King; her loving daughter, Leann (Jeff) Wooten of Shelbyville, along with her beloved grandchildren: Lauren Wooten and Tanner Wooten both of Shelbyville.
Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife whose family meant everything to her. She and Ronnie took care of one another through life’s up and downs, where one lacked the other compensated for. Their devotion to each other was an example of true partnership and lasting love.
She was a hard worker, strong-willed, and tough as nails. She was also tender hearted. She never forgot a birthday, and always made sure her family felt celebrated. She was truly a character, you never knew what she was going to say, but you could always count on it being honest. Her sense of humor, straightforward nature, and genuine heart will be remembered with love.
She also dearly loved her nieces and nephews and played a special role in caring for them while they were little. They will always fondly remember her as “Auntie.”
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held prior to services, at 5 p.m.
