Mary Jo “Polly” Clanton, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away November 15, 2025, at her home after an extended illness surrounded by loved ones and family.
She was born February 20, 1938, in Rutherford County, Tn., to the late Clifford Mason and Adie Maie LovVorn.
She worked as a registered cosmetologist and was a Kmart Associate. A devoted mother, wife and homemaker, she was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Clanton Sr., a brother, Marion LovVorn and grandson, Steven Zackary Clanton.
Mary Jo is survived by her sons, Robert E. Clanton Jr. and Steven Clifford Clanton; five grandchildren, Kyle Clanton, Kristen Clanton, Mason Clanton, Carson Clanton, Collin Clanton; five great grandchildren, Kelbie Prosser, Lucas Clanton, Shayla Prosser, Kylee Jane Clanton, Levi Clanton; three great-great grandchildren, Liam Clanton, Hallie Gene Clanton and Wrenly Carballoso.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 20th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home Jeff Smith and Jon LovVorn officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M.
