Mary Ruth Ogles, 81, of Shelbyville, died September 27, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services were held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 1st, at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Burial followed at Ogles Cemetery in Coffee County. Visitation was Tuesday evening from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
She was born November 9, 1943, in Coffee County, former Nurses' Aide at Bedford County Nursing Home and a member of the Baptist Church.
Mary Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always treated her children's friends like family. She loved yard sales, Dolly Parton and watching Matlock on T.V. She especially loved her two cats, Midnight and Tornado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Edward Holt and Mary Nell Nippers Holt; a daughter, Margaret Ruth Ogles; grandsons, Adam Ogles, Matthew Ogles and Jonathan Brandon; a brother, James Holt; sister, Linda Bates.
Mary Ruth is survived by her husband of 65 years, Billy Webb Ogles; her children, Barbara Handy, Billy Webb Ogles Jr. (Betty) of Wartrace, Troy Dell Ogles (Pam) of Winchester, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Hillcrest Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
