It was a tale of another blown lead late for the Golden Eagles against the Raiders. Shelbyville led 5-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning before Coffee County exploded for five runs, and once the hosts shut down Shelbyville in the seventh, took home the win 8-5 to complete the sweep. 

Despite the relatively low-scoring affair before the sixth, both teams racked up the fielding errors with Shelbyville tallying six errors – with six hits – while Coffee County committed five errors of their own. 

Carston Williams went 4.1 innings in the start for Shelbyville, throwing 97 pitches while striking out eight batters and only walking two. Of the six runs scored, only two of them were earned, and he only gave up five hits as his defense struggled behind him.

Michael Estrada came on in relief, but after issuing a walk and a ball in play that saw the final two runs of the five-run fifth inning score for Coffee County, he was pulled after nine pitches. Coach Chase Jones turned to William Bobo to shut down the Raiders rally, and he did with a pair of strikeouts, but the damage was done.

Brady Daugherty got the start on the bump for Coffee County, but the visiting Golden Eagles saw him well from the first pitch, drawing three walks and collecting a pair of hits without striking out. Daugherty gave up three runs, and while none of them were deemed to be earned, he was pulled after Shelbyville took a 3-0 lead with nobody out in the top of the second inning. 

Jayden Fellers came on in relief, and he gave the hometown Raiders a lifeline. Fellers went four complete innings, giving up only three hits while striking out six batters and not issuing a single free pass. Of the two runs scored with him on the mound, only one of them was earned. 

Cole Pippenger got the final six outs to record the save for Coffee County, throwing two shutout innings with five strikeouts and only one walk. He gave up just one hit in the outing.

Shelbyville took the aforementioned 3-0 lead in the top of the second with nobody out, but the Golden Eagles stranded six runners on base and only managed two more runs the rest of the game. They came in the third inning and in the top of the fifth. The top four hitters in the Shelbyville lineup recorded five of the six hits for the visitors, with Stephen and William Bobo tallying one hit and one run apiece with Carston Williams leading the team with a pair of base knocks that included a double and an RBI.

Nick Johnson, the cleanup hitter, recorded a base hit and an RBI as well. Kyler Trice came on to courtesy-run for Williams and scored a run, and nine-hole hitter Caden Duggin recorded the sixth hit for Shelbyville.

Meanwhile, Coffee County only needed the middle three innings to do their damage offensively on six hits. Pippenger, the hero of game one, was hitless, but he did record an RBI on a sacrifice and a walk. Six different batters recorded a hit for the Raiders, but it was Colter Neel who provided the back-breaking two-RBI double that broke the game open in the fifth inning for the hosts in their eventual 8-5 district win.

Shelbyville Central falls to 0-4 in district play this season despite losing by three runs or less in three of the four games.
